Blouse
Bodice
Starting at neck edge with cream crochet cotton and size 6 steel crochet hook (or size required for gauge), ch 41.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (40 sc). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 2: * Hdc in next sc, 2 hdc in next sc; rep from * across (60 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 3: * Hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * across (80 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, turn.
ROWS 4-6: Hdc in each hdc across (80 hdc). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 7 (Armhole Shaping): Hdc in first 10 hdc, ch 5, sk next 16 hdc (for right armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), hdc in next 28 hdc, ch 5, sk next 16 hdc (for left armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), hdc in last 10 hdc (48 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 8: Hdc in each hdc and ch across (58 hdc). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 9: Hdc in each hdc across (58 hdc). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 10: Hdc in first 19 hdc, * hdc dec over next 2 hdc (to hdc dec: yo and draw up a lp in next 2 sts – 4 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook); rep from * 2 times more, hdc in next 8 hdc, (hdc dec over next 2 hdc) 3 times, hdc in last 19 hdc (52 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 11: Rep Bodice Row 9 (52 hdc ).
ROW 12: Hdc in first 6 hdc, hdc dec over next 2 hdc, * hdc in next 11 hdc, hdc dec over next 2 hdc; rep from * 2 times more, hdc in last 5 hdc (48 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 13 (Shells): Sk first hdc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next hdc, sk next hdc, dc in next hdc, sk next hdc; rep from * across to last hdc, dc in last hdc (12 shells). Finish off, weave in ends.


Bodice Strips
(Note: The following 10 rows will be repeated for each of the 12 shells from Bodice Row 13, sk dc between shells. There will be 12 strips.)
ROW 1 (wrong side): With neck edge and wrong side of bodice facing you, join cream to first dc of shell, ch 3, sk next dc, shell in ch-2 sp, (to shell: work [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] in ch-2 sp), sk next dc, dc in last dc of same shell. Ch 3, turn.
ROWS 2-4: Sk first 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3 from beg of previous row. Ch 3, turn. At end of Row 4, do not ch 3. Cut cream, join rust. Continuing with rust, ch 3, turn.
ROWS 5-6: Sk first 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3 from beg of previous row. Ch 3, turn. At end of Row 6, do not ch 3. Cut rust, join purple. Continuing with purple, ch 3, turn.
ROWS 7-8: Rep Rows 5-6. At end of Row 8, do not ch 3. Cut purple, join jade. Continuing with jade, ch 3, turn.
ROW 9: Rep Row 5.
ROW 10: Sk first 2 dc, 7 dc in ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3 from beg of previous row. Finish off, weave in ends.


Bodice Strips Trim
With right side facing you and neck edge to your right, join black to ch-3 sp from Bodice Shell Row 13 on right back edge, ch 1. Work 3 sc in same sp as joining, * 3 sc in next 10 ch-3 or dc sps along right side edge of strip, sc in next 3 dc at bottom of strip, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next dc, sc in next 3 dc, 3 sc in each ch-3 or dc sp along left side edge of strip, sl st in dc next to shell from Bodice Row 13; rep from * around all bodice strips, (2 sc, sl st) in dc sp from Bodice Row 13 at left back edge. Finish off weave in ends.


Bodice Strips Fringe
Cut twenty-four 8" (20cm) pieces each of rust, purple, jade, and black. Working from wrong side of strip to right side, latch hook 2 pieces of each color tog in ch-2 sp at bottom of each strip. Trim all fringe to 2" (5cm).
Sleeves (make 2)
Holding blouse with right side and fringe end facing you, join cream to 3rd (center) ch at underarm, ch 1.
RND 1: Sc in same ch as joining and next 2 chs, sc in first skipped hdc from Bodice Row 7, hdc in next 14 hdc across top of armhole, sc in last hdc, sc in last 2 chs at underarm, join to first sc (21 sts). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 2: Hdc in same sc as joining and each rem st around, join to top of beg ch-2 (21 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, do not turn.
RNDS 3-4: Hdc in each hdc around, join (21 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 5: Work 2 hdc in first hdc, hdc in next 19 hdc, 2 hdc in last hdc, join (23 hdc – not counting beg ch-2). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 6 (Shells): Sk first hdc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next hdc (shell), sk next hdc, dc in next hdc, sk next hdc; rep from * around to last 2 hdc, shell in next hdc, sk last hdc, join to top of beg ch-3 (6 shells). Cut cream, join rust. Continuing with rust, ch 3, do not turn.
RND 7: * Sk next 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc; rep from * around to last shell, sk next 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk last 2 dc, join to top of beg ch-3 (6 shells). Cut rust, join purple. Continuing with purple, ch 3, do not turn.
RND 8: Rep Sleeves Rnd 7. Cut purple, join jade. Continuing with jade, ch 3, do not turn.
RND 9: * Sk next 2 dc, 6 dc in next ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc; rep from * around to last shell, sk next 2 dc, 6 dc in next ch-2 sp, sk last 2 dc, join. Cut jade, join black. Continuing with black, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 10: Sc in each dc around, join to first sc (41 sc). Finish off, weave in ends.
Blouse Finishing
Sew 3 sets hooks and eyes to back bodice opening: 1 set at neck edge, 1 set at waist, and 1 set halfway between. Set blouse aside.


Skirt
Starting at waist edge with cream, ch 37.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (36 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in each sc across (36 sc). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 3: Work 2 dc in each sc across (72 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, turn.
ROWS 4-5: Dc in each dc across (72 dc). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 6: * Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * across (108 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 7: Dc in each dc across, join to top of beg ch-3 (to close back opening) (108 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
(Note: You will now be working in rnds instead of rows.)
RNDS 8-10: Dc in each dc around, join (108 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 11: * Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (144 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, turn.
RNDS 12-15: Rep Skirt Rnd 8 four times (144 dc).
RND 16: * Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (180 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, turn.
RNDS 17-19: Rep Rnds 8-10 (180 dc). At end of Rnd 19, ch 2 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 20: Dc in each dc around, sk beg ch-2, join to first dc (180 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 21 (Shells): Sk joining dc and next dc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc (shell), sk next dc, dc in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * around to last 2 dc, shell in next dc, sk last dc, join to top of beg ch-3 (45 shells). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 22-23: * Sk next 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc; rep from * around to last shell, sk next 2 dc, shell in next ch-2 sp, sk last 2 dc, join (45 shells). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 23, do not ch 3. Cut cream, join rust. Continuing with rust, ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 24-27: Rep Sleeves Rnds 7-10 (45 shells, 314 sc in Rnd 27).


Skirt Finishing
Sew 1 hook and eye set to back waist edge. Place skirt on doll and close back hook and eye. Place blouse on doll, close back hooks, straighten and smooth bodice strips and fringe.


Headband
Starting at top of headband with rust, ch 55. Being careful not to twist ch length, join to first ch to form a large circle, ch 1.
RND 1 (right side): Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join to first sc (55 sc). Cut rust, join purple. Continuing with purple, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Rep Rnd 1. Cut purple, join jade. Continuing with jade, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: Sc in same sc as joining and next 18 sc (mark last sc worked – for headband tassel), sc in next 18 sc (mark last sc worked – for headband tassel), sc in last 18 sc, join (55 sc). Finish off, weave in ends.


Headband Finishing
STEP 1 (Fringe): Cut four 8" (20cm) pieces each of rust, purple, jade, and black. Working from wrong side of headband to right side, latch hook 2 pieces of each color tog to each marked sc at bottom of headband. Remove markers. Trim ends even.
STEP 2: Hot glue one 31/4" (8.3cm) jewelry feather, with turquoise side facing forward, to inside of headband at joining seam.
STEP 3: Place headband on doll’s head with feather to the back, centering 2 long tassels on either side of forehead. (Headband will fit snugly.)


Moccasins (make 2)
Starting at bottom of sole with rust and size 2 steel crochet hook (or size required for gauge), ch 13.
RND 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 10 chs, 3 sc in last ch. Working around opposite side of starting ch, sc in next 10 chs, 2 sc in last ch, join to first sc (26 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 sc in joining sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in next 3 sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in last 2 sc, join (32 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RNDS 3-5: Sc in joining sc and each rem sc around, join (32 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps will be used for trim), sc in joining sc and next 11 sc, (dec over next 2 sc) 4 times (toe end), sc in last 12 sc, join (28 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 7: Sc in joining sc and next 9 sc, (dec over next 2 sc) 4 times, sc in last 10 sc, join (24 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 8: Sc in joining sc and next 7 sc, (dec over next 2 sc) 4 times (mark last sc worked – for start of Row 9), sc in last 8 sc, join (20 sc). Finish off, do not turn.
(Note: You will now be working in rows instead of rnds.)
ROW 9: Rotate moccasin so toe end is facing to your right. With right side facing you, rejoin rust to marked sc from Rnd 8, ch 1 (remove marker). Sc in joining sc and next 8 sc, sk sl st at back joining seam, sc in next 9 sc (18 sc). Do not ch, turn.
ROWS 10-19: Sc in each sc across (18 sc). Do not ch, turn. At end of Row 19, finish off, weave in ends.


Moccasins Finishing
STEPS 1-2: Rep Chief Moccasins Finishing Steps 1-2.
STEP 3: Thread a 10" (25.4cm) piece of black crochet cotton into tapestry needle. Lace black (as a gym shoe) up front to top, using every 2nd sc row end.
STEP 4: Put moccasins on doll, tie ends in bow, trim ends.


Necklace
Using size 2 steel crochet hook, holding 1 strand of rust, purple, jade, and black tog leaving a 3" (7.6cm) end (for neck tie), ch 45. Finish off leaving a 3" end for other neck tie.


Necklace Finishing
STEP 1: Cut four 5" (12.7cm) pieces of black, three 5" pieces of jade, and three 5" pieces of rust. Latch hook 1 piece of rust to center of crocheted necklace. Using beading threader (or fine wire), thread 3 orange seed beads on doubled strand. Slide beads up to latch hook knot. Knot doubled strand tog below and close to beads. Cut strand ends 1/4" (6mm) below bottom knot.
STEP 2: Working up each side of necklace from center, making latch hook knots about 1/2" (1.3cm) apart and repeating procedure same as in Step 1, latch hook at each side of center strand, * 1 black piece with 3 black beads, 1 jade piece with 3 black beads **, and 1 rust piece with 3 orange beads; rep from * to ** once more (see Figure 1) (10 strands of beads).
STEP 3: Tie ends of necklace into a bow at back of doll’s neck.
