White craft glue or hot clear glue
Tapestry or yarn needle


Crochet Hooks:
Size G or size required for gauge and size E for black trim only
Gauge:
With size G hook:
9 sc= 2 in., 9 rows/rnds= 2 in.
8 hdc= 2 in., 6 rows/rnds= 2 in.


Dress
Bodice:
Starting at neck edge with size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and pink, leave 15-in. end for sewing back seam on bodice later, ch 47.

ROW 1: (Shape Armholes- right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 5 chs, ch 4, sk next 10 chs (for armhole), sc in next 14 chs, ch 4, sk next 10 chs (for other armhole, sc in last 6 chs. Turn (do not ch 1).
ROW 2: Sc in first 6 sc, sc in next 4 chs, sc in next 2 sc, 2 dc in each of next 4 sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 dc in each of next 4 sc, sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 4 chs. Sc in last 6 sc (42 sts). Turn.
ROW 3: Sc in each st across (42 sc). Turn.
ROW 4: Sc in first 6 sc, * dec over next 2 sc (to dec, draw up a lp in each of next 2 sc- 3 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook; dec made); rep from * 6 times more, sc in next 2 sc, (dec over next 2 sc) 7 times, sc in last 6 sc (28 sc). Turn.
ROWS 5-6: Sc in each sc across (28 sc). Turn.
ROW 7: Sc in first 2 sc, * dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc; rep from * twice more, dec over next 2 sc, sc in last 3 sc (24 sc). Turn.
ROW 8: Sc in each sc across (24 sc). Turn.
ROW 9: Sc in first 2 sc, * dc over next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * twice more, dec over next 2 sc, sc in last 2 sc (20 sc) . Turn.
ROW 10: Sc in each sc across (20 sc). Ch 3, turn.

Skirt:
ROW 11: Working in back lp of sts (lp away form you) for this row only, 3 dc in first 3 sc, 2 hdc in next 14 sc, 3 dc in last 3 sc, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 (46 sts- not counting ch-3).
(Note: Front lps will be used later for top ruffle of bustle and 3 front peplums. From now on, you will be working in rnds instead of back and forth in rows.) Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 12: Work 2 dc in next 9 dc, hdc in next 28 hdc, 2 dc in last 9 dc, join (as before)- 64 sts. Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 13: Working in back lp only, 2 dc in next 3 dc, dc in next dc. Working in both lps of sts, dc in next 12 dc, hdc in next hdc and mark this st for beg of hdc section at front (use small safety pin or piece of contrasting yarn for marker), hdc in next 27 hdc, mark last hdc just worked for end of hdc section, dc in net 12 dc. Working in back lp only, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in last 3 dc, join (70 sts).
(Note: Front lps will be used later for bottom ruffle of bustle. Continue by working in both lps of sts unless otherwise specified.) Ch 3, do not turn.
(Note: On next 15 rnds (Rnds 14-28), work dc in dc sts and hdc in hdc sts. Move markers on hdc section on each following rnd.)
RND 14: * Work one st in next 6 sts, 2 sts in next st; rep from * around, join (80 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 15: * Work one st in next 7 sts, 2 sts in next st; rep from * around, join (90 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 16: Work one st in next 4 sts, * 2 sts in next st, one st in next 8 sts; rep from * around to last 5 sts, 2 sts in next st, on st in last 4 sts, join (100 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 17: * Work one st in next 9 sts, 2 sts in next st; rep from * around, join (110 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 18: Work one st in next 5 sts, * 2 sts in next st, one st in next 10 sts; rep from * around to last 6 sts, 2 sts in next st, on st in last 5 sts, join (120 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 19: * Work one st in next 11 sts, 2 sts in next st; rep from * around, join (130 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 20: Work one st in next 6 sts, * 2 sts in next st, one st in next 12 sts; rep from * around to last 7 sts, 2 sts in next st, one st in last 6 sts, join (140 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 21-28: Work on st in each st around, join (140 sts). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 28, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn. Remove both markers.
RND 29: Sc in each st around, join with a sl st in beg ch-1 (140 sc- not counting ch-1). Ch 4, do not turn.

Bottom Ruffle:
RND 30: * Work 2 trc in next sc, 3 trc in next sc; rep from * around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-4. Ch 4, do not turn.
RNDS 31-32: Trc in each trc around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-4. Ch 4, do not turn. At end of Rnd 32, do not ch 4; change to size E hook and black. Continuing with black, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 33: * Work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next trc, sk next trc; rep from * around, join with a sl st in beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Sleeves (make 2):
With right side facing and size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge), join pink with a sl st in 3rd ch at underarm.
RND 1: Ch 1, sc in same ch as joining and next ch at underarm, work (sc, hdc) in next ch of armhole opening, 2 dc in each of next 8 chs, (hdc, sc) in next ch, sc in last 2 chs at underarm, join with a sl st in beg sc (24 sts). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: Dc in same st as joining and each rem st around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 (24 dc- not counting ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 3-4: Dc in each dc around, join (as before)- 24 dc. Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 4, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 5: * Dec over next 2 dc (to dec, draw up lp in each of next 2 dc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook; dec made); rep from * around, join with a sl st in beg sc (12 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6: Sc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join with a sl st in beg sc (12 sc). Drop lp from hook and drop yarn (do not cut), work black band before completing sleeve.

Black Band:
Hold black yarn on inside of sleeve, use size G hook and draw up a lp in last sc of Rnd 5 (2nd rnd down), sl st in each of 12 sc of Rnd 5, finish off. With crochet hook, draw end to inside of sleeve, knot black ends securely and trim. Return to dropped l at end of Rnd 6. Continuing with size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and pink, ch 3, do not turn. Work next 6 rnds as follows:
RND 7: Work 2 dc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 (24 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 8-9: Dc in each dc around, join (as before) - 24 dc. Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 9, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 10: Rep Rnd 5 of sleeve (12 sc). At end of rnd, do not ch 1; change to size E hook and black. Continuing with black, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 11: Sc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join with a sl st in beg sc (12 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 12: Sc in same st as joining, * ch 4, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around to last sc, ch 4, sk last sc, join with a sl st in beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Neck Ruffle:
With right side facing and size E hook, join black with a sl st in first st at left back neck edge.
ROW 1: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining and each rem ch around neck edge (46 sc). Ch 4, turn.
ROW 2: Sk first sc, sc in next sc; * ch 4, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across. Ch 4, turn.
ROW 3: Sc in first ch-4 lp, * ch 4, sc in next ch-4 lp; rep from * across. Finish off and weave in ends.

Center Front Peplum:
With right side facing and neck edge of dress toward you, use size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and join pink with a sl st in 9th lp left unworked in Row 11 at waist.
ROW 1: Ch 2, hdc in same lp as joining, 2 hdc in next 3 lps, leave rem 8 lps unworked (7 hdc- not counting ch-2). Ch 2, turn.
ROW 2: Hdc in each hdc across, hdc in top of ch-2 (8 hdc). Ch 2, turn.
ROWS 3-10: Rep Row 2, 8 times more. At end of Row 10, you should have 16 hdc. Ch 1 (in place of ch 2), turn.
ROW 11: Sc in first hdc, hdc in next 14 hdc, sc in last hdc. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 12: Sc in first sc, hdc in next 14 hdc, sc in last sc. Turn (do not ch 1).
ROW 13: Sl st in first sc, sc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc, dc in next 2 hdc, trc in next 2 hdc, 2 trc in each of next 2 hdc, trc in next 2 hdc, dc in next 2 hdc, hdc in next hdc, sc in next hdc, sl st in last sc. Finish off, then work black edging around outer edge of peplum.

Black Edging:
With right side facing and size E hook, join black with a sl st in same lp at waist where peplum was started, ch 4, work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in end st of next 10 hdc rows, sk next 2 sc rows, work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next sl st (first st at bottom edge), * sk next st at bottom edge, (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next st; rep from * 7 times more, sk next sl st (last st at bottom edge), work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next sc row down other side, sk next sc row, work (sc ch 4, hdc) in end st of next 10 hdc rows, ch 4, sl st in same loop at waist where 2 hdc of peplum were worked. Finish off and weave in ends.

Side Peplums (make 2):
Work same as center peplum except use the 4 lps on each side of center peplum.

Top Ruffle of Bustle:
With right side facing and neck edge of dress toward you, use size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and join pink with a sl st in 4th lp to right of back opening at waist.
ROW 1: Ch 3, work 3 dc in same lp as joining and next 3 lps, work 3 dc in next 4 lps at left of opening (25 dc- counting ch-3 as one dc). Ch 3, turn.
ROWS 2-4: Dc in next dc and each rem dc across, ending by working dc in top of ch-3 (25 dc). Ch 3, turn. At end of Row 4, do not ch 3; change to size E hook and black. Continue with black, ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in first dc, * sk next dc, (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next dc; rep from * across to last 2 dc, sk next dc, sc in top of ch-3. Finish off and weave in ends.

Bottom Ruffle of Bustle:
With right side facing and neck edge of dress toward you, use size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and join pink with a sl st in first unworked lp to your right in Rnd 13 at back of skirt.
ROW 1: Ch 3, work 3 dc in same lp as joining and next 5 lps, sk ch-3 where rnd was joined, 3 dc in next 6 lps (37 dc- counting ch-3 as one dc). Ch 3, turn.
ROWS 2-3: Dc in next dc and each rem dc across, ending by working dc in top of ch-3 (37 dc). Ch 3, turn. At end of Rnd 3, do not ch 3; finish off, do not turn.
ROW 4: With right side of sts of previous row still facing you, use size E hook and join black with a sl st in top of ch-3 at beg of previous row, ch 1, (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next dc; rep from * across to last 2 dc, sk next dc, sc in last dc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Pantaloons with Attached Petticoat:
Starting at waist edge of pantaloons with size G hook and white, ch 25.
ROW 1: (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (24 sc). Turn (do not ch 1).
ROW 2: Sc in first sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc (36 sc). Turn.
ROWS 3-7: Sc in each sc across (36 sc). Turn. At end of Row 7, do not turn, join with a sl st in beg sc. (NOTE: From now on, you will be working in rnds instead of back and forth in rows.) Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 8: Sc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join (as before) -36 sc. Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 9: Working back lp of sts for this rnd only, dc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 (36 dc- not counting ch-3). (NOTE: Front lps will be used later for petticoat.) Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 10: Dc in each dc around, join (as before) -36 dc. Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 11: Dc in next 18 dc, mark last dc just worked (use a small safety pin or piece of contrasting yarn for marker), dc in rem 18 dc, join, then sl st tightly into marked st from wrong side (this divides work in half for leg openings). Remove marker; ch 3, do not turn.

Right Leg Shaping:
RND 12: Dc in next 17 dc, dc in next dc where sl st was worked, leave rem 18 dc unworked for left leg, join. Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 13-20: Dc in each dc around, join (18 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 20, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 21: * Sc in next dc, dec over next 2 dc (to dec, draw up a lp in next 2 dc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook: dec made); rep from * around, join with a sl st in beg sc (12 sc). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 22: Work 3 trc in same st as joining and each rem sc around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-4 (36 trc- not counting ch-4). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 23: Sc in next trc, * ch 3, sk next trc, sc in next trc; rep from * around to last trc, ch 3, sk last trc, join with a sl st in beg ch-3 lp. Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 24: Sc in same lp as joining, * ch 3, sc in next ch-3 lp; rep from * around, ch 3, join with a sl st in beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Left Leg Shaping:
With right side facing and size G hook, join white with a sl st at crotch.
RND 1: Ch 3, dc in 18 dc around leg opening, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3. Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 2-12: Rep Rnds 13-24 of Right Leg Shaping.

Petticoat:
With right side facing and waist edge of pantaloons toward you, use size G hook and join white with a sl st in first lp left unworked in Rnd 9 (below back opening).
RND 1: Ch 3, 3 dc in same lp as joining, * dc in next lp, 2 dc in next lp; rep from * to last lp, 3 dc in last lp, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 (57 dc- not counting ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 dc in next 3 dc, dc in each rem dc around to last 3 dc, 2 dc in last 3 dc, join (63 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 3-5: Dc in each dc around, join (63 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 6: Work 2 dc in each dc around, join (126 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 7-10: Dc in each dc around, join (126 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 10, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RNDS 11: Sc in each dc around, join with a sl st in beg ch-1 (126 sc). Ch 4, do not turn.

Bottom Ruffle:
RND 12: * Work 3 trc in next sc, 2 trc in next sc; rep from * around, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-4. Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 13: Trc in each trc around, join (as before). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 14: Sc in next trc, * ch 3, sk next trc, sc in next trc; rep from * around, ch 3, join with a sl st in beg ch-3 lp. Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 15: Sc in same lp as joining, * ch 3, sc in next ch-3 lp; rep from * around, ch 3, join with a sl st in beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Waist Edging and Ties:
With white and size G hook, ch 25 (for one tie), continue with same yarn and sl st in each ch around waist edge of pantaloons, then ch 25 more (for other tie). Finish off and weave in ends.

Fan:
Make 2 pieces for base of fan as follows: With size E hook and black, ch 2, work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (do not ch 1).
NEXT ROW: Sc in 3 sc across, turn.
NEXT ROW: Work 2 sc in each of 3 sc across (6 sc), turn.
NEXT ROW: Sc in each sc across (6 sc); finish off, leaving 12-in. sewing length on one piece only. Weave in all other ends.
FINISHING: Using 4-in. to 5-in. feathers, stuff one feather in back lp of 6 sc of last row worked of one base piece and glue in place. Cut 3 in. length of 1/4 in ribbon, fold in half and glue ends to back of base piece with feathers, leaving 1-in. ribbon loop extended below buttom tip. Glue 2 base pieces together (feathers on inside). Thread 12-in. sewing length into tapestry or yarn needle and sew base pieces tog at sides. Glue rem 2-in. ribbon bow (previously set aside) to base of fan and glue one rose to center of bow. Trim ribbon ends on an angle. Evenly trim feathers to 3 in. Slip ribbon loop at base of fan onto either hand of doll.

Hat:
With size G hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and pink, ch 2. RND 1: (right side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with a sl st in beg ch-1 (6 sc- not counting ch-1). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around, join (as before)- 12 sc. Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around, join (24 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 5: * Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around, join (30 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6: * Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around, join (36 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RNDS 7-10: Sc in each sc around, join (36 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 11: Working in front lp of sts (lp toward you) for this rnd only, * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep form * around, join (54 sc). (NOTE: Back lps are left unworked.) Ch 1, do not turn.
RNDS 12-13: Sc in each sc around, join (54 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 14: * Sc in next sc, hdc in next sc, dc in next sc, 2 dc in each of next 2 sc, dc in next sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc; rep form * around, join with a sl st in beg sc (6 scallops made). Change to size E hook and black. Continuing with black, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 15: Work (sc, ch 4, hdc) in same st as joining, * sk next st, (sc, ch 4, hdc) in next st; rep from * around to last st, sk last st, join with a sl st in beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.

Finishing:
STEP 1: Slip pantaloons with attached petticoat onto doll and secure waist ties with a bow at center back. Put dress on doll and sew back seam on bodice, leaving ends of neck ruffle free. Threat 18-in. of pink into a tapestry or yarn needle and starting at center front just below neck ruffle, weave yarn in and out of pink sts all around neck edge, pull ends tightly until neck edge fits body rather snugly, then knot ends securely and trim.
STEP 2: Cut six 8-in. pieces of 1/4-in. ribbon and tie each into a 2-in. bow. Glue (or sew) one bow to center of each peplum in 4th pink row up from bottom edge. Glue one bow to center of bottom ruffle of bustle just above black edging. Fold neck ruffle over at center front and glue one bow to it. Set 6th bow aside for fan.
STEP 3: Glue one rose to center of each bow of previous step.
STEP 4: Place 5/8-in. ribbon around waist of doll and tie into a bow at center back, leaving ends to fall down over skirt. Trim all ribbon ends on an angle.
STEP 5: Using 3-in. feathers (cut stem portion if necessary- not tips), glue feathers to top brim of hat over 3 sc rows (next to scallops of outer edge).
STEP 6: Cut two 14-in. pieces of 1/4-in. ribbon and tie a 2-in. bow at center of each piece. Glue to feathered brim at back of hat, having bows approximately 3-in. apart. Trim ends of ribbon on an angle. Glue 3 roses to center of each bow.
