Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn:
1 oz Yellow
1/2 oz Black
1 yd Red
Sewing needle and thread
Mini art palette
Hot glue and glue gun

Size I (or size required for gauge)
Gauge:
With Size I hook,
7 sc = 2 in., 8 rows/rnds = 2 in.
13 dc = 2 in., 4 rows/rnds = 2 in.

Smock
Starting at back neck edge with blue and size I hook, ch 20.
ROW 1 (right side): Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (19
sl sts). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Working in front lp of sts for this row only (back lps will be
used for collar), sc in each sl st across (19 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 3: Sc in each sc across (19 sc). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 4 (Armhole Shaping): Work 2 dc in first 2 sc, dc in next sc, ch 3,
sk next 3 sc (for left armhole), 2 dc in next sc, dc in next 5 sc, 2 dc
in next sc, ch 3, sk next 3 sc (for right armhole), dc in next sc, 2 dc
in last 2 sc (19 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Sc in first 5 dc, sc in next 3 chs, sc in next 4 dc, 2 sc in next
dc, sc in next 4 dc, sc in next 3 chs, sc in next 5 dc, join with sl st
to first sc (to close back opening) (26 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
(Note: You will now be working in rnds instead of rows.)
RNDS 6-8: Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join to first
sc (26 sc). Ch 1, do not turn. At end of Rnd 8, finish off, weave in
ends.
Sleeves (make 2)
With right side and bottom of smock facing you, rejoin blue to center
(2nd) ch at underarm, ch 1.
RND 1: Sc in same ch as joining and next ch, 2 sc in side of dc row, sc
in next 3 sc at top of armhole (skipped sc from Smock Row 4), 2 sc in
side of dc row, sc in last ch at underarm, join to first sc (10 sc). Ch
1, do not turn.
RND 2: Sk same sc as joining, sl st in next sc, sc in next 7 sc, sl st
in last sc, join to first sl st (9 sts). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: Sl st in same sl st as joining and next sc, sc in next 6 sc, sl
st in last sl st, join to first sl st (9 sts). Finish off, weave in
ends.
Collar
With back neck edge of raincoat facing you, leaving a 4 in. end (for
right neck tie), rejoin blue to first unworked lp from Smock Row 2 at
right back neck edge, ch 3. Work 3 dc in same lp as joining, dc in next
6 lps, 2 dc in next lp, (dc, ch 2, sl st) in next lp, sl st in next lp,
(sl st, ch 2, dc) in next lp, 2 dc in next lp, dc in next 6 lps, (3 dc,
ch 3, sl st) in last lp (24 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off
leaving a 4 in. end (for left neck tie). Weave each 4" end through first
ch at each back neck edge.
Smock Finishing
With red yarn and size I hook,chain a 7-in. long chain. Tie into a bow,
if ends are too long, undo a few ch sts until ch is desired length. Tie
into bow again. Weave ends of red yarn into chain. Trim any excess yarn
and stitch to neck. Place smock on 5-1/2 in. Impkins™ Doll and tie back
neck ties into a bow.
Hat
Starting at center top of hat crown with black and size I hook, ch 3,
join to first ch to form a circle, ch 1.
RND 1 (right side): Work 10 sc into center of circle, join to first sc
(10 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Sc in same sc as joining, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep
from * around to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, join (15 sc). Ch 1, do not
turn.
RND 3: Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (15 sc). Ch
1, do not turn.
RND 4: Sc in same sc as joining, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep
from * around, join (22 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 5: Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (22 sc). Ch
3, do not turn.
RND 6: Dc in same sc as joining, * 2 dc in next sc, dc in next sc; rep
from * around to last sc, 2 dc in last sc, join to top of beg ch-3 (33
dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, weave in ends. Place hat on
doll’s head with joining seam to the back.
