† The dagger identifies a portion of instructions that will be repeated again later in the same round or row.

Beading Notes:
1. To thread beads onto crochet cotton (Figure 1): Cut eye off end of beading needle, fold needle (or very fine wire) in half pinching fold tightly. Thread about 2" of crochet cotton end into fold. Pass both points at other end of needle (or wire) through bead hole and pull all the way through. Rep for each bead. At end of last bead, remove needle.
2. To crochet bead into work: Push next bead to about 1/2" from hook, insert hook into next st and draw up a lp. To complete st on wrong side: push bead close to work leaving bead on wrong side, complete sc. To complete st on right side: push bead through st right behind hook so bead lays on right side, complete sc. (Beads are difficult to push through to right side. Try using a second crochet hook, catching crochet cotton behind bead, to help pull bead through.) Option: Instead of threading beads on and crocheting in, beads can be sewn to each st on front and sides of bodice after dress is completed.)
3. Keep beads as close as possible to work to keep crochet cotton from twisting. Move beads back onto crochet cotton as you work.

Ruffles Finishing
Measure and cut beadstring to fit across bottom of each ruffle. Sew in place.
Dress Finishing
STEP 1 – Back Opening: Sew 4 hook and eye sets to back dress opening: one set at top edge, one set at waist, one set half-way between and one set about 1/2" below waist. (Dress bodice will fit snugly. Stretch slightly to close.)
STEP 2 – Bottom of Skirt: With sewing needle and thread, sew one 3 mm gold bead to beg ch-3, to 4 (of every 5) dc in each scallop and to all sc between scallops at bottom of skirt (81 beads).
STEP 3 – Bodice: If beads were not crocheted into bodice front, sew gold beads to cover bodice front and sides (approximately 300 beads).
STEP 4 – Shoulder Straps: Working on front sections of shoulder straps only, sew 1 gold bead to each ch of each section (4 beads to each outer section, 6 beads to each center section, 8 beads to each inner section) (18 beads on each shoulder strap).
STEP 5 (Attaching Ruffles):
A. With right side of skirt ruffle facing you, run a gathering st from upper right hand gold bead to center top (front half of ruffle top only). Pull gathering so distance from center point to bead is 11/2". Knot each end securely. Rep for rem 4 ruffles.
B. Pin center top of 5 skirt ruffles with right side facing you down right side of skirt (over right hip). Overlap and space ruffles so top of top ruffle is just below waist and bottom edge of bottom ruffle is even with bottom edge of skirt scallop. Sew center top of each ruffle to skirt. Place gathered edge of each ruffle horizontally across skirt (toward the front) and sew in place.
C. Let back half of top edge of each ruffle hang down. Sew ruffle at end of beadstring (at back of each ruffle) to skirt center back (not to back seam). Set dress aside.
STEP 6 – Ribbon Rose Trim: Sew or glue 3 ribbon roses, slightly off center, at top of skirt top ruffle.
STEP 7 – Earrings (make 2): Cut one 21/2" piece of gold beadstring. Overlap ends to form a loop; glue (Figure 2). Glue 1 earring on each earlobe.

STEP 8 – Shoes: Cut stems from 2 ribbon roses. Spot glue layers of petals tog, if necessary. Glue 1 rose to front of each shoe.
STEP 9 – Dress Doll: Remove fabric bra top from doll. Leave panties on. Place dress on doll and close back hooks. Pull fullness of skirt ruffles to the front.
