Materials Needed:

Granny Doll ( #3053)
Air Freshener Cannister
Knitting Worsted Weight Yarn:
3 oz Light Yellow
3 oz White
1-2/3 yd. Light yellow satin ribbon (3/8 in.)
1/2 yd. Pre-gathered white lace
3 sets silver hooks and eyes
4.5 in. Square of light yellow fabric
Sewing needle and matching thread
Clear glue and hot glue gun
Crochet Hook:
Size G (or size required for gauge) and size F (for edgings only)
Gauge:
With size G hook,
9 sc = 2 in., 9 rows/rnds= 2 in.
8 dc = 2 in., 4 rows/rnds = 2 in.

Dress with Attached Slip
Bodice
Starting at neck edge with light yellow and size G hook (or size required for gauge), ch 21.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (20 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * across (30 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 3 (Armhole Shaping): Sc in first 4 sc, ch 3, sk next 7 sc (for right armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), sc in next 8 sc, ch 3, sk next 7 sc (for left armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), sc in last 4 sc (16 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 4: Sc in each sc and ch across (22 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 5-6: Sc in each sc across (22 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 6, ch 3 in place of ch 1, turn.


Skirt
ROW 7: Working in front lp of sts for this row only (back lps will be used for slip), 2 dc in each sc across, join to top of beg ch-3 (44 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn. Mark first unworked lp for start of slip.
(Note: You will now be working in rnds instead of rows.)
RND 8: * Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (66 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 9: * Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (88 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 10-13: Dc in each dc around, join (88 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 14: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps will be used for skirt trim), 2 dc in each dc around, join (176 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 15-16: Dc in each dc around, join (176 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 16, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 17: Sc in each dc around, join to first sc (176 sc). Finish off, weave in ends.
Skirt Trim: With back neck edge of bodice facing you, join white to first unworked lp from Skirt Rnd 14 at back joining seam, ch 1. (Sc, ch 3) in same lp as joining and each rem lp around, join to first sc (88 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends.

Sleeves (make 2)
With right side and bottom edge of skirt facing you, join light yellow to 2nd (center) ch at underarm, ch 1.
RND 1: Sc in same ch as joining and next ch, sc in next unworked sc from Bodice Row 3 at top of armhole, hdc in next sc, 2 dc in next 3 sc, hdc in next sc, sc in next sc, sc in last ch at underarm, join to first sc (13 sts). Cut light yellow, join white. Continuing with white, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: (Sc, ch 3) in same sc as joining and each rem st around, join to first sc (13 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends.
Collar (for Kitty only)
With wrong side and bottom edge of skirt facing you, join white to first ch at right neck edge, ch 1.
ROW 1 (wrong side): Dec over same ch as joining and next ch (to dec, draw up a lp in next 2 sts – 3 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook), * sc in next ch, dec over next 2 chs; rep from * across (13 sc). Do not ch, turn.
ROW 2: (Sc, ch 3) in each sc across to last sc, sc in last sc. Finish off, weave in ends.


Slip
With neck edge of bodice facing you, fold skirt back over bodice, exposing unworked lps from Skirt Row 7. Join white to first (marked) unworked lp at back opening, ch 3. Remove marker.
RND 1: Dc in same lp as joining, * 2 dc in next lp, dc in next lp; rep from * around to last lp, 2 dc in last lp, join to top of beg ch-3 (33 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: * Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (44 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 3: * Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (55 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 4-6: Dc in each dc around, join (55 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 7 (Ruffle): Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), 2 dc in each dc around, join (110 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 8-10: Dc in each dc around, join (110 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 10, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 11 (Edging): (Sc, ch 3) in each dc around, join to first sc (110 ch-3 sps). Do not ch, do not turn.
RND 12: (Sl st, ch 1, sc, ch 4) in first ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 4) in each rem ch-3 sp around, join (110 ch-4 sps). Finish off, weave in ends. Lower skirt over slip.Kitty Finishing
STEP 1: Sew 3 sets hooks and eyes to back dress opening: 1 set at top of collar, 1 set below collar at top of bodice, and 1 set about 1" (2.5cm) below 2nd set. Place dress on Kitty.
STEP 2: Cut two 12" (0.3m) pieces of 3/8" (10mm) light yellow satin ribbon. Pull 1 piece of ribbon through 1 sc at top of each shoulder just above sleeve. Tie each ribbon into a 2" (5cm) bow. Trim ends on an angle even with bow.
STEP 3: Place an 18" (0.5m) piece of 3/8" light yellow satin ribbon around Kitty’s waist. Tie into a 3" (8cm) bow in back. Trim ends on an angle.


Hat
Crown: Starting at center top of crown with light yellow, ch 2.
RND 1 (right side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to first sc (6 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (12 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: Sc in same sc as joining, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 4: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 5: Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (18 sc). Cut light yellow, join white. Continuing with white, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6 (Edging): (Sc, ch 3) in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join to first sc (18 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends.
Hat Finishing: Cut an 18" (0.5m) piece of 3/8" (10mm) light yellow satin ribbon. Using tapestry needle, hold hat joining seam to the back and, starting and ending on left side, weave ribbon through sps in rnd between crown and edging. Pull ribbons and tie a 2" (5cm) bow on left side. Trim ribbon ends to 1" (2.5cm) on an angle. Place hat on Kitty’s head. (Optional: Glue hat to top of Kitty’s head.)


Doll Finishing
STEP 1: Sew 2 sets hooks and eyes to back dress opening: one set at neck edge and one set about 1" (2.5cm) below. Place dress on doll.
STEP 2: Cut two 12" (0.3m) pieces of 3/8" (10mm) satin ribbon. Pull 1 piece of ribbon through 1 sc at top of each shoulder just above sleeve. Tie each ribbon into a 2" (5cm) bow. Trim ends on an angle even with bow.
STEP 3: Place an 18" (0.5m) piece of 3/8" satin ribbon around doll’s waist. Tie into a 3" (8cm) bow in back. Trim ends on an angle.


Hat
Crown: Starting at center top of crown with main color, ch 2.
RNDS 1 (right side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to first sc (6 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (12 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: Sc in same sc as joining, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 4: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 5: Sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (18 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6 (Brim): Working in front lp of sts for this rnd only (back lps rem unworked), sc in same sc as joining, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, join (27 sc). Ch 1, do not turn. Mark sp between Rnds 5 and 6 for weaving ribbon.
RND 7: Work 2 sc in same sc as joining, sc in each rem sc around, join (28 sc). Cut color being used, join white. Continuing with white, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 8 (Edging): (Sc, ch 3) in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join to first sc (28 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends.


Hat Finishing: Cut an 18" (0.5m) piece of 3/8" (10mm) satin ribbon. Using tapestry needle, hold hat joining seam to the back and, starting and ending on left side, weave ribbon through sps in rnd between crown and brim. Pull ribbons and tie a 2" (5cm) bow on left side. Trim ribbon ends to 1" (2.5cm) on an angle. Remove ribbon from doll’s hair; place hat on doll’s head.

Fold fabric square diagonally and drape around shoulders.
