Milwards Steel Crochet hook No. 7
2 small snap fasteners and a hook and eye . . . 1 yard of yellow satin
ribbon, 3/8, inch wide, yard of narrow lace . . . ', yard crinoline
hemline binding. 6 inches wide. . Bias binding. Small pearls for
necklace. . A doll 8 inches tall, chest 4 ½ inches.
SKIRT . . . Starting at waist with Shaded Lt. Yellows, ch 47 to measure
5 inches. 1st row: Dc in 8th ch from hook. * Ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next
ch. Repeat from * across (14 sp). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: 4 tr, in first
sp, 5 tr in each sp across (70 tr),. Sl st to top of ch-4 and work in
rnds as follows: 1st rnd: Working in back loop only, ch 4, tr in same
place as sl st, * tr in next. 4 tr, 2 tr in next tr. Repeat from around
(84 tr). Join. 2nd rnd: Working through both loops, ch 4, tr in each tr
around. Join 3rd rnd: Repeat first rnd (101 tr). 4th rnd: working
through both loops ch 4, tr in same place as sl st, * tr in next 4 tr, 2
tr in next, tr, Repeat from * around, Join. 5th rnd: Ch 4, 2 tr in carne
place as sl st, * 2 tr in next tr, 3 tr in next tr. Repeat from *
around. Join. 6th to 12th rnds incl: Ch 4, tr in each tr around, Join.
RUFFLE . . 1st rnd: Sc in front loop of each tr around. Join and break
off. 2nd rnd: Attach Turquoise to same place as sl st, sc in same place,
draw loop on hook out to measure ½ inch 1 loop st made), holding last
loop on hook, insert hook in next sc and draw a loop through, thread
over and draw through one loop making a sl st of it, draw loop on hook
out to same height as previous loop st, make a loop st in each sc
across. Join and break off. 3rd rnd: Attach Shaded Lt. Yellows to first
loop, sc in same loop, * ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around,
Join. 4th rnd: Sl st in next ch, sc in same loop, * ch 3, sc in next
loop. Repeat from • around. Join. Break off. Attach Shaded Lt. Yellows
to first front loop on 2nd row of Skirt and work ruffle the same way,
then work 1 more rnd of loops as before. Make another ruffle same as
this, working in front loops of 2nd rnd on Skirt.
BODICE , , . 1st row: With wrong side of Skirt facing, attach Shaded Lt.
Yellows to opposite side of starting chain, ch 3, * 3 dc in next sp, 2
dc in next sp, Repeat from across, ending with dc in last st. Ch 3,
turn. 2nd row: Mark with a pin the center st of row, skip first dc, dc
in each dc to within 3 sts preceding pin mark, 5 dc in next dc, dc in
next 5 dc, 5 dc in next dc. do in each remaining dc. dc ire tap of
turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across
and in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Mark with a pin the
center st of row, skip first dc, dc in each dc across to within 12 dc
preceding pin mark, ch 5 for armhole, skip 4 dc, dc in next 6 dc,
holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 5 dc,
thread over and draw through all loops on hook, dc in next 6 dc, ch 5
for other armhole, skip 4 dc, dc in each remaining dc across. Ch 1,
turn.
BERTHA COLLAR. . , 1st row: Sc in back loop of each dc across, sc in top
of turning chain. Break off. 2nd row: Attach Turquoise to first sc, make
a loop st in each sc across. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Shaded Lt.
Yellows to first loop st, sc in same place, * ch ;i, sc in next loop st.
Repeat from ° across. Break off.
Sets snap fasteners to back. Run ribbon through cps at waist. Tie in bow
at back.
HAT . . . Starting at center with Shaded Lt. Yellows, make a chain 4
inches long. Join with Sl st to form ring 1st rnd: Sc in each ch around.
Join and break off, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnd,: Repeat and, 3rd and 4th reds
of Skirt Ruffle, String pearls for necklace.
PANTIES . . Starting at waist with Turquoise, make a chain long enough
to reach around doll's waist. Join, being careful not to twist. 1st rnd:
Ch 3, do in each ch around. Join. 2nd. 3rd and 4th reds: Ch 3, dc in
each do around. Join, Fold in half, having starting chain at center
back, ch 4, 51 st in corresponding dc at center front to form crotch.
Break oft.
PETTICOAT . . . Sew up narrow ends of crinoline, leaving a 21. Inch
opening at top. Pleat top edge to fit waist. Sew bias binding around top
of petticoat and opening. Sew a hook and eye to back. Sew lace to bottom
edge.
