Computer Desk Set

(tower and keyboard)
Plastic Canvas Pieces (7 mesh):
Computer Tower:
- two 27 x 26 bar rectangles (sides)
- two 27 x 12 bar rectangles (sides)
- one 12 x 26 bar rectangle (bottom)

Keyboard:
- two 22 x 10 bar rectangles (top and bottom)
- two 10 x 4 rectangles (sides)
- two 22 x 4 rectangles (sides)

Yarn Colors:
- black
- light grey
- medium/charcoal grey
- black embroidery floss (for keyboard)
(For another look, try using combinations of white a beige for a lighter computer.)

Assembly of Computer Tower:

The computer tower is your pencil cup!

1. Cover the bottom rectangle and three of the four sides of the tower with black yarn (leaving one 27 x 12 bar side to be decorated later.) The 27 x 26 sides should be oriented so that they are 26 bars in width and 27 bars high.

2. For the front 12 x 27 bar piece, fill in with light grey, medium grey, and black yarn as desired. Look at real computers for inspiration. Then, using either yarn or embroidery floss, stitch in lines for the computer drives and use knots to make buttons.

3. Stitch all of the pieces around the bottom rectangle, up all four corners, and around the top edge. Line with plastic, plastic canvas, or felt.

Assembly of Keyboard:

1. Fill in all sides and one 22 x 10 piece with black yarn.

2. For the top (keyboard) piece, complete one row of black stitching around the perimeter. Then fill in the middle with light grey yarn.
3. Use black embroidery floss to create keys (see the picture below).

4. Stitch all four side pieces to the solid black bottom rectangle. Stitch up the sides. Then stitch the keyboard top piece to ONE edge of the keyboard box to make a hinge. Line with felt or plastic.

Use yarn and stitch in disk drives and buttons on the computer tower.
Make sure your keys are believable. Remember to have a space bar, return keys, and letter keys. Look at a real keyboard for guidance.
The keyboard opens to hold paperclips, pushpins, rubber bands, and other small office supplies.
